Three weeks after Election Day, the last undecided legislative races have been called – both in favor of the challengers. Republican David Hadley has beaten Asm. Al Muratuschi in a tight race for the 66th District. In AD-39, Asm. Raul Bocanegra, a prolific fundraiser who was believed to be prepping a run for speaker, has conceded to Patty Lopez, a self-described “educational community representative,” who appears to have bested him by just 467 votes in an intra-party battle that has led pundits to put on their speculation caps.
Speaker Toni Atkins has announced her leadership team, with Asm. Kevin Mullin leading the list as Speaker pro Tem. Committee chairs have not yet been named. Jeremy White has the list at the Sacramento Bee.
It is currently free to walk or ride a bike across the Golden Gate Bridge – two assemblymen plan to introduce a bill to keep it that way. Michael Cabanatuan has the story at SFGate:
“On a grassy bluff at Crissy Field, with the bridge in the background, Assemblymen Phil Ting, D-San Francisco, and Marc Levine, D-San Rafael, said they would introduce a bill on Monday that would preclude the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District from charging a toll for people who walk or pedal across the bridge.”
Carl DeMaio, San Diego candidate for Congress, may have conceded his race weeks ago, but Scott Lewis of Voice of San Diego continues his extensive takeout on the scandal that engulfed DeMaio’s campaign - and may have ultimately cost him a house seat.
“[Todd Bosnitch] says he confronted DeMaio on May 18 about sexual harassment.
“The next day, May 19, Bosnich says, he showed up to work and the campaign manager, Knepper, told him he was fired. He says Knepper asked him to sign a non-disclosure agreement. If he did, he could collect $50,000….”
