A woman behaving erratically was spotted entering the long-necked giraffe exhibit at the Sacramento Zoo, marking the first incident the facility has ever had with an individual purposefully trespassing into an animal habitat.
Sacramento Bee's ELLEN GARRISON: "Volunteers at the Sacramento Zoo spotted something Saturday that didn’t belong among the giraffes – a woman."
"Zoo spokeswoman Tonja Candelaria said the volunteers asked the unidentified woman to leave the exhibit and she did so. But when the volunteers went to inform staff of the incident, the woman walked out of the zoo on her own and disappeared. A Sacramento Police Department officer called to the scene couldn’t find her, said police spokesman Officer Matt McPhail."
"Candelaria said it’s unclear how the woman got into the enclosure, since it has two sets of barriers, but she assumes the woman climbed in."

The attorneys general from the District of Columbia and the state of Maryland are suing Donald Trump, alleging a constitutional violation of the emoluments clause, which prevents a sitting president from being the beneficiary of financial gain leveraged from the position of power.
WaPo's AARON C. DAVIS: "Attorneys general for the District of Columbia and the state of Maryland say they will sue President Donald Trump on Monday, alleging that he has violated anti-corruption clauses in the Constitution by accepting millions in payments and benefits from foreign governments since moving into the White House."
"The lawsuit, the first of its kind brought by government entities, centers on the fact that Trump chose to retain ownership of his company when he became president. Trump said in January that he was shifting his business assets into a trust managed by his sons to eliminate potential conflicts of interests."
An anti-Sharia, anti-Islam, pro-Trump rally in Roseville drew in hundreds of protesters and counter-protesters on Saturday.
Sacramento Bee's NASHELLY CHAVEZ: "Roseville resident Nicole Miller chanted along with anti-sharia protesters Saturday in Roseville, waving an American flag at cars that drove past her on Galleria Boulevard. A red “Make America Great Again” hat kept the sun out of her eyes as she stood with other sharia law opponents."
"They cannot assimilate into the American culture,” she said of those who practice Islam. “We’re all patriots here, protesting and saving America as citizens."
"She was one of more than 300 people who gathered in Roseville to protest sharia law, part of a series of nationwide rallies organized by the grassroots organization ACT for America. Anti-sharia attendees were met with two camps of counterprotesters, who argued the rally served as the basis for anti-Muslim and Islamophobic rhetoric."
Democrat billionaire Tom Steyer, whose own political plans are unknown, is calling for the impeachment of POTUS45.
Sacramento Bee's CHRISTOPHER CADELAGO: "Tom Steyer, the Democratic megadonor and environmental activist from California, said Congress should immediately begin impeachment proceedings for Donald Trump, arguing the president has exceeded the standard for impeachment last set by Republicans with former President Bill Clinton."
"We are seeing a party which has shocking double standards,” Steyer said in an interview with The Sacramento Bee.""
|What we are trying to do is to say, ‘Let’s have one standard for Americans. And let’s go back to the standard they themselves drew in a the two most recent instances and apply it here.’ They drew a line in the sand – and they are way over it.”

A 'misinformed' DMV clerk discusses handicap placard abuse and how non-disabled drivers get their hands on these parking permits.
EBT's GARY RICHARDS: "When my husband passed away in April of 2013, my daughter and I went to the Alma Street DMV in San Jose to return his placard. I stepped up to the clerk and handed her the placard and told her my husband had recently passed away. She looked at me and, as my daughter is my witness, said, “Why are you turning it in? You are old. Just keep it.”
"I was stunned by her comment. Yes, I was 80 years old at the time and replied that “I may be old, but I am not stupid. It is the law!” When I handed her the placard, I attached a note with the date of my husband’s death and our address."
"Then, in June, I received a new placard addressed to my husband. I promptly wrote DECEASED with the date of death and sent it back to the DMV."
